There is a move to have a new Scorers' Association set up in Queensland. Below is an email message from Judy Harris outlining what needs to be done to organise this.

Last night, at an Extraordinary Meeting the 11 scorer's present (plus 2 who voted in absentia) voted unanimously to move away from the Umpire's Association and form our own independent body. It is felt that we can achieve a lot more this way. We will endeavour to appeal to clubs for more awareness of their scorers and, we hope in time, for assistance with costs. We realise that this will not be achieved overnight but we will make a start.
Our next meeting will be on 15th September in which we will be deciding upon our goals for the next five years, what we want to achieve, how to go about this etc as well as information needed for the start of the cricket season. This will be held at Queensland Cricket, 1 Bogan Street, Albion starting at 6pm. Entry is through the glass doors to the office. Should these doors be locked, please press the black buzzer to the left hand side.
One of our first aims is to increase our membership base. At this point in time, there will be no charge to members but they are required to register their interest. Please fill out the attached form and either post or email it back to me.
We are looking at becoming an Incorporated body and the wheels have been put in motion for this to happen.
Another new initiative is for either Kevin Berry or myself to be available to any scorer on a day suitable to one of us to sit beside you for a day to help with your scoring. We feel this is the best way for a
scorer to learn. For this to happen, please contact me on the phone numbers shown below. I hope to hear from you.
