Wanderers Cricket Club
Greetings all,

A very special and warm welcome to all our new Wanderers’ family members who signed on during the last couple of weeks. The response to this year’s junior sign-ons has been to say the least, phenomenal. There are quite a few juniors who we know are playing that haven’t officially sign-on as yet. With training for most juniors commencing this Friday, it would be very wise to get down to the clubhouse & get registered & fitted for your new Wanderers’ shirt. We need to know how many teams we will be nominating urgently, so please make the effort. Training times for juniors will be posted on the website and are below.

Used cricket equipment – it has been suggested that many players are growing out of their bats, pads, spikes etc., and may want to attempt to sell them as they are still in good condition. We have decided to offer all of you the facility to send in a list of cricket gear you want to sell & prices and we will dedicate some web pages for this. So, if you have any cricket gear you want to sell, please email the description and pricing to info@wandererscricket.com if you have a photo, send that along too.

The Brisbane A Grade premiership winning team, Sunshine Coast Scorchers are playing a North Queensland team this weekend at the Brothers Cricket Ground at the Willows. On Saturday there is a 50 over match followed by a Twenty/20 match on Sunday. While the Sunshine Coast Scorchers are here, they will be conducting an Under 12 Coaching Clinic on Sunday morning at the Willows ground from 9:30 – 11am. This is a great opportunity for any of our Under 12’s to meet these players and get a few cricketing tips. Wanderers have four players representing North Queensland in these matches, they are Darren Frakes, Drew Martel, Scott Connor & Ryan Dowson, good luck fellas and have a biggin!

A huge vote of thanks to Skip McGovern from McGovern Agencies for installing the new cold-room motor last week. Check out the McGovern Agencies website http://www.mcgovernagencies.com.au/ who are the market leaders in central ducted vacuum, home intercom and gate automation systems.

Working Bee (DON’T SKIP THIS PARAGRAPH).
We are holding a working bee on Saturday 2nd September (Next Saturday) from about 8:30am. The tasks are not onerous as most will be done with machinery but there is a bit of painting & sanding to be done. If you can assist, we would be very grateful especially if you could bring along an electric sander / wire brush to scrape the paint off the supports in front of the clubhouse so they can then be repainted. Please come along and help out, as the old saying goes “Many hands make light work” (so do electricians if you can ever find one).

With the advent of new playing shirts for all players, we have a quantity of our old shirts that we want to liquidate. There are numerous shirts across a range of sizes that we are selling off at only $10.00 per shirt. Just ask at the clubhouse.

Senior training has commenced every Tuesday & Thursday at 5:30pm through to approximately 7:15pm. Come along fellas & let us know you are playing this season as the official season commences on the weekend of 16th & 17th September.

This weekend we see the introduction of a pre-season Nicholson First National Twenty/20 competition at Endeavour Park. The first matches commence at 12noon with the second set of matches to start at 3:00pm. Sunday the matches recommence at 10:00am with the semi-finals in the afternoon. The following Saturday (9th) will see the Grand Finals & minor placing’s decided. All clubs are involved with a $500.00 first prize on offer.

Then on Sunday 10th, our first match for the season at home with the TCI’s Chairman’s XI taking on reigning premiers Wanderers in a 40 over match. We invite everyone to turn up to this match where we should be seeing our players in the new Club shirt for the first time.

All players are reminded that when the new shirts arrive that there is only one way you will be given a shirt, that is, it must be paid for. Trish Heit has volunteered to administer the new shirt roll-out and believe me, you don’t want to try and pull the wool over her eyes (maybe a bribe of a bourbon might help though).

All senior players are also reminded that you cannot take the field without filling in your registration and indemnity form and also paying a minimum of $50.00 registration. There will be no exemptions and selectors will be advised of the Club’s zero tolerance in this regard. To those who haven’t yet been to training and or filled in your form, you can do so on Tuesday & Thursdays from 5:30pm & Fridays from 4:30pm at the clubhouse. I have once again listed the fee structure for this season below and in the case of the senior players I would urge you to look closely at the discount structure as it is very generous to say the least.

Junior fees:
$105.00 plus $30.00 shirt
extra children from the same family will be a further $55.00 each plus a shirt each @ $30.00 per shirt..

Senior fees:

Option 2:$350.00 made up of two payments of $175.00 – first payment of $175.00 by October 1st,                         second payment by 31st December
Option 3:Maximum fee of $400.00 for season or $20.00 per day played – a $50.00 registration fee is                      payable prior to playing first match and is part of the $400.00 registration fee. The $20.00 per                     day fee must be paid on the day you play.

Student fee:$200.00 or 50% of options 1 or 2.
